Great Expectations

Today’s blog is more on the philosophical side of our everyday life.   Sometimes it feels that in one form or another life tends to have conflict or struggle. Whether they are personal struggles, professional struggles, or spiritual, sometimes it can be difficult to imagine life without them. By why do we have conflict at all? I think it has something to do with our expectations.
We place expectations on our selves, on our family, on our friends, and our professional lives. These expectations could be as simple as assuming some one is going to behave in a certain way towards us, or as complex as our business being exactly the way we imagined it to be.   As we all know this can lead to disappointment in others and in ourselves because our expectations were not met.  It can be exhausting and never-ending.   In my personal experiences with this I have sought to quite these thoughts with Reiki, and with self reflection.  Recognizing that at the core of it all we all want the same thing—to be acknowledged and appreciated for who we are. There are several books out there on this subject indicating that this is a common human struggle. One of the things that I have found to be useful is to simply just let go.
Let all of it go. It doesn’t serve any purpose to expect anything from anyone, even myself. It only serves to frustrate you and them. Why not enjoy life and living more.Enjoy people for who they are and not what you think they should be. Enjoy the idiosyncrasies of it all. Enjoy the road and not the destination.  Experience just being, rather than doing and in the process rediscover what it means to be happy.  In the future I expect to just be and to simply feel the freedom in that.
